Multi-million dollar renovation brings new restaurant to downtown Days Hotel

New names for two established Grand Rapids businesses were unveiled recently as part of major renovations at those businesses: Days Inn is now Days Hotel, and the on-site restaurant formerly known as Sully's at the Inn is now the Pearl Street Grill. Casual dining, a relaxed atmosphere, a new menu, West Michigan microbrews, and Michigan wines are some of the offerings diners will find in the new eatery.

The menu still has a few old favorites from Sully's, namely the 310 Meatloaf (named after the address, 310 Pearl Street), and the Pearl Street Burger. New taste treats include Italian Chicken, Veggie Egg Roll appetizers, and six handmade thin crust pizzas, including Hawaiian and BBQ Chicken.

Locally grown and organic foods are staples, such as the Michigan blueberries that top the Belgian Waffles for breakfast. And the chef adds new ingredients regularly to keep the menu fresh and interesting.

"The menu tends to be more comfort foods because those are our most popular," says Ellen Markel, hotel general manager. "But the pizza is also a hot item."

The restaurant opens onto the renovated and spacious lobby, where diners can enjoy a drink in front of the new fireplace with its custom made wood surround.

The dining room seats 100, and there is a private room available for groups of up to 24.

In support of the hotel's goal to become Michigan's first zero waste business, the restaurant's "to go" containers are made from recycled paper and corn-based materials.
