The Rise of the Cycling City

Bring your bike and bring friends to our June Not Your Average Speaker Series, Cycling City!

A lot of efforts are being made to make Grand Rapids a more "bike friendly" city, including new designated bike lanes, "sharrows," bike trails, mountain biking parks and much more -- and they are beginning to pay off.

But how do we increase the culture of bike riding in Grand Rapids, meaning bicycle commuting, bicycle friendly employers, more biking infrastructure and just more bike riders?

Come find out about these efforts and what you can do Wednesday, June 29 at Wealthy Theatre. We've partnered with BikeFriendlyGR, PedalGR and the Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition to put on this informative event.

Wednesday, June 29th, 7 - 9 p.m.
Wealthy Theatre, 1130 Wealthy St SE
Mass ride leaves Founders Brewery at 6:30 p.m. sharp, if you'd like to join. Bring your noisemaker!
Bike parking will also be made available at Wealthy Theatre.

Panelists will include:

Josh Duggan of PedalGR
Kent County Commissioner Jim Talen
Mary O'Neill of Atomic Object (*a bike friendly employer)
Thomas Fish of the Motion Initiative

Moderated by Tyler Doornbos of Bike Friendly (GR).

BONUS ITEMS:

The event will include a giant group ride from Founders Brewery to Wealthy Theatre, beginning at 6:30. It's an easy 1.9 mile ride, so come join us! Otherwise, we'll see you at Wealthy Theatre at 7:00.

We will also be unveiling to the public a short film put together to highlight Grand Rapids bike assets and where improvements are in the works.
