If electronic dance music (or EDM) can find an audience for five years on a Monday night at Billy’s for BassBin (and starting at 10 p.m.), then surely those with a bit of spring in their step can find something worth planning for on Mondays at 8 p.m when the 2016 season of Comedy Outlet Mondays starts up again.
For its 2016 debut, the girls will be taking over the stage starting at 8 p.m. for the first hour as they welcome a variety of improv-based comics to perform in a solid hour of on-the-spot created humor.
At 9 p.m., the guests on stage will welcome members of the audience who want to take a stab at the art of improv to join them on stage from 9 - 10 p.m. as they attempt to bring out your inner performer.
What makes this event really stand out is that the organizers are using comedy to bring out the best in other women by encouraging them to lend their voices to the process of comedy, stressing how it can empower women to talk about topics that might otherwise not be vocalized in an often male-dominate comic culture of our city.
Funny Girls features sketch comedy, improv, music, videos, and sometimes even puppets. The troupe have been known to read old love letters and journals to help spark innovative frameworks for comic scenes.
Admission: $5
