One of the joys of autumn in the Midwest is that we seem to appreciate the last of Michigan’s final bounty a bit more, knowing those mouthwatering, fresh-from-the-vine tomatoes and fire-roasted cobs of corn seasoned with fresh butter, cheese and lime are slowly retreating from view.
But before we settle into an endless sea of soups with chunks of potatoes, squash and carrots, a delicious, wet-hopped brew arrives fresh from the field in the form of Founders Brewing Co.
The Harvest Party is when Founders shares with the public the first taste of the 2015 harvest of hops. Beer drinkers know these fresh, wet American hops produce a very distinct flavor that will not be repeated as the beer ages.
This beer is meant to be enjoyed now, and this Saturday is when you will have a chance. Join in as the founders of Founders welcome you to the taproom to down a pint or three of this delicious concoction.
Also being “flown in” for this event are the musical acts HONEYHONEY (Cleveland), Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line (Nashville), David Ramirez (Austin), and My God, the Heat (Rockford, Illinois).
In addition to the debut of the 2015 Harvest Ale, Founders’ Taproom will be pouring Devil Dancer, Double Trouble, All Day IPA, Centennial IPA, and Red’s Rye IPA.
As with every Founders special event, they’ll program in those special moments of joy when they occasionally roll out a barrel of surprises and Taproom-only specials on those hard to get one-off brews.
With each paid admission, you will get a commemorative 2015 Harvest Party pint glass with your first Harvest Ale (or any class 1 beer) on the house.
There are no advance tickets, just cover at the door, so be prepared to get in line if you need to be there at 11 a.m. for a breakfast beer.
$10 for general public, $8 for 2015 Mug Club Members
