Jeff Kraus: Artist on the move

Sunday, Mar. 8, noon - 4 p.m.
The Westside of Grand Rapids is popping with activity of all kinds lately. Suddenly those seeking a different cultural experience in the city of Grand Rapids are following the ancient California motto to "Go West!"

This trend is evident not just through the new projects popping up along Bridge Street but also by the evolving works and new art practices being generated in warehouse pockets, from the Tanglefoot building and Dinderbeck to neighborhood-driven, community artists at the Glitter Milk Gallery. The Westside art culture is something rare in this city.

Joining this group of great spots is a new collaboration between retailer Hunt & Gather and artist Jeff Kraus, who have teamed up to open a new space in our city.

Hunt & Gather, already known for their modern-vintage furniture, home décor, and design services on Cherry Street, will host an open studio reception on Curve Street SW with painter, printmaker and collaborative artist Jeff Kraus on Sunday afternoon.

Many in the area are already familiar with Kraus' massive abstract paintings, but this new space allows folks a chance to meet the artist in his studio and see many works in progress. And as an artist who has hosted open studio events for more than a decade in the area, I can personally say that you will not want to miss this opportunity.
