Mustard Plug: Still going strong

Saturday, Dec. 19, 6 - 9 p.m.
Most of the bands you loved from the ‘80s — and may have rocked your or your parents’ libido — are either being routed now in this era to your local casino or being directed to the mega-reunion show at a small town’s trailer village for senior citizens.

While some acts are breaking this tradition, we are lucky that one local late ‘80s band is still attracting scores of folks to their concerts.

Not only is our local ska boyband Mustard Plug still performing after all these decades, but the band’s annual Holiday Party concert being held at The Intersection Lounge is one of the highlights of the year.

Mustard Plug’s audience is growing older too — but do not let that stop you from attending, as this one is unique.

Unlike their concerts held around the world, Mustard Plug rarely gets to host an all ages show, and the annual holiday bash held each year here is one of those events to introduce your personal mini me to your ska past.

And this brings me to my final point for the aging hipster hoping to get in the mosh pit: pack your medical card just in case. You might have great insurance now, but your bones — that’s another story that I am sure you won’t want to share with me from Spectrum’s ER. (They do have great Orthopedic doctors on their team.)

Also performing is MU330 (pronounced "em-you-three-thirty") a ska-punk band from St. Louis and also a group that formed in the late 1980s. They are known for their high energy style of ska but for also infusing breaks of melodic and lyric driven ska that have been described as a cross between Weezer and The Specials.
