Eat, Drink, Be Merry: Taste the Good Life (only $35)

Friday, Mar. 28, 5:30 p.m.
For about the cost of 3.5 glasses of wine at your favorite eatery, you can travel not just around the world in a glass, but have a chance to sample some of the most eclectic and valuable wines this side of your rich uncle's wine cellar.

As a fundraiser, I cannot think of a better way to celebrate our local St. Cecilia Music Center (SCMC) and the way their commitment to music in our region is enriching our lives.

The selection of wines and beers to be offered on Friday night have been carefully curated by Heritage Hill's Martha’s Vineyard and will feature their Top 100 highly rated wines, ranging from the known to the outburst-worthy "OMG! Where Have You Been All My Life?" discoveries.

This wildly popular, friendly, and festive fundraising event truly showcases how the arts can create community through a lively cast of attendees. In the past I have enjoyed how people freely converse with one another around tables featuring boutique wineries and craft beer, ales, and local ciders, reflecting the small micro producers of our state as well as the U.S. and England.

Eat, Drink, Be Merry is a great way to make a new friend, too, and I am not just talking about the chance to take home a bottle or case from the event.

For those into names (and with a Google alert for rare brands) these wineries will be featured: Marimar Estate, Seven Hills, Hesketh, Wilson Napa Valley, Panther Creek, John Duval, Elhers, Chateau Labegorce, Hoppes, Paul Hobbs, Beaux Freres, Bramare Marchiori, Arbios, Shafer, Tenuta, Bressler, Ridge, Quintessa, Kobalt, Davis Bynum, Owen Roe, Copain, Herman Story and many more.

It will also be a chance to sample some amazing brews, too, with breweries New Holland, Founders, Bell’s, Shorts, Epic, Vandermill (ciders), Samuel Smith, Lindeman’s, Green’s, Greenflash, Lagunitas, and Arcadia being showcased for their rare qualities and deliciousness, much like SCMC's eclectic programming.

Admission: $35. Includes tastings and plenty of hors d’oeuvres, of course.
