WST3K Black Fist: Something Different, Local

Thursday, Mar. 13, 8 p.m.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 has long been a part of the culture, so as a part of LaughFest's fondness for big, bold ideas, the wildly popular version of this film talkback program will leap from Dog Story Theater to the big screen at Wealthy Theatre for a special LaughFest edition simply titled WST3K.

The event is a collection of Michigan’s best comedic talent who will, in real time just like the popular TV show, improvise new dialog and sound effects as the film is projected live on the big screen.

The film this time is the 1974 cult favorite, Black Fist. The flim is so bad it hardly needs any help, but that should not stop you from racing to the theater to grab a seat for a night that cannot be repeated for fear of being sued.

"It's really laid back. We'll talk about the movie before the show. [The movie's] so bad you'll laugh without us commenting," says Ben Wilke of Deep End Films. "It's like watching a horrible movie and commenting with your friends -- but your friends are really, really funny."

Joining Wilke on stage will be comics Joe Anderson, DK Hamilton, and Nardos Osterhart.

As always, members of the Community Media Center's Wealthy Theatre get bar privileges, which include a fine array of Michigan brews and spirits.

Admission: $7
