Designed in Grand Rapids, imported from Detroit

ReapSo is a new app that helps businesses reward their customers with a wide variety of deals.

The app was designed by Grand Rapids-based Atomic Object, and after a trial run in Detroit, ReapSo founders Bill Wildern and Steve Valentine are preparing to bring the innovative rewards program to Grand Rapids.

The app, which is currently available in Apple's App Store, allows customers to scan ReapTags with their mobile phone at the physical location of a business. The tags can also be shared and accessed via digital mediums, such as Facebook, Twitter, websites, and email.

Once scanned, the customer can win deals and collectible media items. Wildern explains, "The merchants can decide the best way to implement the ReapTags. It is a very flexible method of creating opportunities to reward customers. It also allows merchants the opportunity to create non-traditional deals. For example, a brewery could create a reward that includes an invitation for a brewery tour or a meeting with a brewer. It could be any brand engaging experience."

To participate, merchants need to sign up for the service at a cost, which Wildern describes as "flexible and affordable."

Wildern says his firm chose Atomic Object as a partner after months of due diligence. "We wanted to chose a Michigan-based partner. We did an extensive search and Carl Erickson and his team meshed best with us."

Besides designing the app, Atomic Object also invested $100,000 in ReapSo's next round of funding, and they're helping Wildern and Valentine bring ReapSo to Grand Rapids.
