Terra Trikes growth adds jobs, spurs move to new building

Another year, and more growth. It's becoming fairly routine at Terra Trike, the manufacturer of recumbent bikes based in Grand Rapids.

"At our annual dealer day, we like to share our sales numbers to get them pumped up," says Jeff Yonker, marketing director at Terra Trike. "We had predicted we would be at around 16-18 percent growth. Instead, we ended up at 43 percent. For this current year, we could hit over 50 percent."

To accommodate this growth, the firm recently moved to a new, state-of-the-art, 14,000-square-foot facility at 4460 40th St. in Grand Rapids. The new facility features a 6,000-square-foot warehouse, a larger showroom, additional offices, a photography studio and a prototype lab.

Along with the move, Terra Trike added three new positions last year and is currently looking to hire two individuals for sales and marketing functions.

Yonker points to several factors driving growth, including increased brand awareness, lower price points and newer products.

Terra Trike has scheduled their grand opening April 27 for  friends and vendors and April 28 for the general public.
