As ArtPrize 2012 approaches, ArtPrize operations seeks to fill contract and part-time positions

As September 19, 2012 and the beginning of ArtPrize approach, the ArtPrize organization has opened up two part-time contract positions as well as several seasonal part-time jobs and internships.

The nonprofit (41 Sheldon Blvd. SE) looks to fill the two contract positions soon; each will entail 20 hours a week and will run for one year, says Amelea Pegman, community volunteer director. The positions are for a junior accountant and a venue and artist relations assistant.

"We haven't had a venue and artist relations person before," Pegman says. "They'll work through the artist and venue matching periods helping artists and venues connect with one another. They'll assist as the venues work to curate their shows. Then the position will transition to help with our Speaker Series and juried teams."

The seasonal part-time positions will increase the ArtPrize staff from its usual 13 employees to about 30. The positions include assistant opportunities in marketing, volunteering, event production, retail management and public relations/social media. Those jobs will begin in June and run through Oct. 7, 20 hours per week at $10 an hour.

ArtPrize also offers four unpaid internships this spring and nine for the summer, and will work with the interns' college or university to get them credit hours, if applicable.

"Overall, these positions allow us to be successful and to move quickly as our season wraps up," Pegman says. "This allows us to have some other hands and heads in the event to be successful. There's a lot that's required of us, and a lot of collaborative work, and we need to have assistants and interns to help us communicate and to run the event. We really appreciate having the fresh energy and new eyes to help us get better at what we do."
