Lake Michigan Credit Union is busy bringing new job opportunities to West Michigan, and the recent opening of a new Grand Rapids branch added several new positions to the list.
The newest branch at 2024 Celebration Drive NE, near Knapp St. NE and the East Beltline, opened in November. This brings the total LMCU branches to 32, including 23 in Greater Grand Rapids, one in Holland, one in Grand Haven, six in Greater Kalamazoo and one in St. Joseph.
"Twelve new positions have been created in 2011 due to branch openings," says Julie Blitchok, senior VP of retail operations. "We have experienced tremendous growth in other areas of our company, too, with an additional 64 new positions created in 2011, many of which were for our mortgage division."
As of this writing, 37 job openings remain unfilled, both corporate-wide and at branch locations. Those jobs include positions in accounting, human resources, information technology, mortgages, commercial lending, tellers and even a car lot attendant.
Blitchok says LMCU has over 180,000 members, $2.3 billion in assets and employs 592 people.
"Our company is growing, and we are healthy and strong," she says. "We are very pleased to bring new jobs to West Michigan."
