Business expansion could establish 75 jobs on Grand Rapids' West Side

As soon as a new $10.3 million building at 634 Front Street near the Grand Rapids fish ladder is done, Plante & Moran will be moving into 46,000 square feet of it. The move is an expansion from the company's current location at Bridgewater Place and the firm expects to add between 50 and 75 positions over time.

"We were looking for a space in the downtown area that would better accommodate our needs," says George Riddering, managing partner. "The Front Street Building provides us the opportunity to create a custom space and a collaborative working environment."

The firm is the country's 11th largest certified public accounting and business services firm with 1,500 employees throughout Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and in Shanghai, China. Riddering projects continued growth as part of the company's long-term plan.

The new positions will be in a variety of service areas, including manufacturing, real estate, construction, government, and education.

"As our staff grows," Riddering says, "we expect to add accountants and business advisors at a variety of levels. We feel assured that our new space will accommodate us."

Plante & Moran has signed a 12-year lease.
