Grand Rapids implements marijuana decriminalization

The City of Grand Rapids, starting May 1, to begin issuing civil infraction tickets for simple possession of marijuana. 

According to an excerpt from the article:

The statement was released after Grand Rapids City Commission met in closed session this morning to discuss ongoing litigation over a voter-approved city charter amendment that seeks to decriminalize marijuana use and possession – meaning that it no longer will be a crime, but rather a ticket payable by a fine ranging from $25 to $100.
