A great race in Grand Rapids

Organizers and participants were pumped and proud with the inaugural urban adventure race in downtown Grand Rapids.

According to the article in MLive:

"They did a great job organizing," Kevin Randall said. "I know how many hours it takes to pull this off, and they did a great job. It was a very well-run event."

That's just what race director Mark VanTongeren wanted to hear, especially since he said he had the widest spectrum of participants he has seen at an adventure race, from beginners to veteran runners and triathletes.

"The long and hard days and nights of planning have really paid off," VanTongeren said. "We've had a really smooth start to the race. We're excited. It seems like everyone was thrilled to be here and do something so different than what they might usually do for a competitive sporting event."
