Major improvements planned for the Hart-Montague Trail

Better biking and hiking will result from plans for an improvement project for the popular state park.

According the excerpts from The Muskegon Chronicle:

The 22-mile Hart-Montague Trail State Park has not been repaved since it opened in 1991, and now the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is planning to repave and widen the trail, bringing it up to current standards, said Paul Yauk, the DNR's linear trails program manager.
The project calls for repaving the entire trail, widening it from 8 feet to 10 feet and bringing it up to accessibility standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act. A 2-foot shoulder will also be added. The project is expected to include widening the trestle bridges to accommodate the wider trail, improving crossings to make them safer for trail users and redoing signs, Yauk said.
