ArtPrize 2013 is winding down, but the fifth annual Grand Rapid event saw record crowds at venues even before Top 10 winners were announced last week.

“When you put a frame around something, you see it differently," said David Rosen, president of Kendall College of Art and Design, at the ArtPrize Awards Night on Friday.
"ArtPrize puts a frame around three square miles of Grand Rapids. It attracts the eyes of the world to our little Garden of Eden of creativity.”
The Grand Rapids Art Museum, with three nominees for Juried Awards and one winner -- Shahzia Sikander's "The Last Post" -- had a banner event in attendance with more than 1,700 tour guests and 61 scheduled tour groups.
