Grand Haven puts new emphasis on displaying artwork in public places

According to the Grand Haven Tribune, the city's Central Park and an area along the Grand River channel are among the public sites city leaders are eyeing to display artwork on a regular basis. This greater emphasis on promoting artwork helps create a greater "sense of place" in the community, they say.

According to excerpts from the story:

City officials say they hope to tie into that "sense of place" with happenings like ArtWalk, a three-week event scheduled for late September and early October.

"We hope this is a long-term opportunity that gives us great exposure," said Steve Loftis, owner of several downtown Grand Haven restaurants and an organizer of ArtWalk.
