West Michigan Compounding in Rockford looking to expand recycling business in Greenville

According to The Greenville Daily News, a Rockford-based company is looking to expand its recycling operation into new digs in Greenville, with plans to become operational this September and to hire 17 workers in three years.

West Michigan Compounding already leases space in the former Electrolux shipping warehouse in Greenville to house raw materials used to recycle nearly 20 pounds of thermoplastics a year.

According to excerpts from the story:

In 2005, Scott Barnard saw an opportunity in what he perceived was a need in the Midwest for recycled thermoplastics, which can be used by the auto industry and large injection molders.

He began working with Johnson Controls and Summit Polymers to develop a way for these companies to reuse their plastic scraps within their own operations.
