Three West Michigan public schools ranked in the top five among 3,000 statewide

WOOD-TV reports that three West Michigan public schools eligible for state aid were among the top five performing schools in the state as ranked by the Michigan Department of Education. The ranking was based on academic data from 2007 through 2009 that combined proficiency scores in math and English/language arts with the rate of improvement in those scores over time.

According to excerpts from the report:

Forest Hills Public Schools' Eastern Middle School took the number one spot statewide among 3,000 schools ranked. Grand Rapids Public Schools' City Middle/High School came in fourth and FHPS' Northern Hills Middle School is ranked fifth.
