Ada Township requests ideas for Fulton Street bridge design

As Ada Township planners look to implementing visionary goals determined by community design charrette months ago, MDOT is looking to rebuild a main bridge on M-21/Fulton Street with the same one it built four decades ago when traffic was lighter and the needs and safety issues much different than today. Township officials are calling for residents to stand with them in their request for an updated bridge that will serve the area well into the future.

According to excerpts from the story:

Lighted miniature covered bridges may someday sit atop the abutments on the Fulton Street Bridge over the Grand River, if Ada Township planning commissioners have it their way.

The four-lane bridge is scheduled for a complete rebuild in 2009, and township officials are seeking input on how to redesign the bridge to make it attractive and fit the future needs of the township.
