City gets $50 million plan for hotel and condos on former parking lot

According to excerpts from the story:

A nine-story condominium, hotel, retail and parking complex would replace a parking lot near Van Andel Arena under a plan submitted to the city Friday.

A partnership between Gershenson Realty and Investment and Kirco Development -- the same group planning a downtown movie theater -- was the only one that submitted a response to the city's request for development proposals for its Area 5 lot.

An integrated parking ramp would include 295 public spaces and 150 spaces reserved for condo owners. A pedestrian bridge over the U.S. 131 Business Route would connect the building with the neighboring proposed 13-screen cinema.
