Description: Provides design, validation, implementation and support services for the Perrigo Global Network. This system engineering position provides expert level technical support for the core components of Perrigo’s infrastructure environment, with responsibility for client and server services. As an engineer, the incumbent will design, implement, validate and support standard/cGMP qualified infrastructure systems based on innovative, industry-standard solutions. Systems Engineers isolate and resolve system problems, analyze support patterns to proactively prevent issues, research and develop new support processes, and assist with strategic planning of shared computing services. The incumbent requires an analytical approach to solving problems and must be able to handle all phases of technology implementation including design, solution development, testing, end-user pilots and rollout. Continuous education is required to maintain competency in a fast changing business and technical environment. The incumbent is a member of the IS Systems Engineering Team whose members must work together effectively to continuously improve the reliability and usability of the company’s computer systems. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining Exchange 2003/2007 environments, VMware servers, SharePoint farm and must be a well rounded engineer. The focus is to maximize customer productivity and satisfaction while minimizing the total cost of ownership.
Requirements: Each Systems Engineer will have specific expectations and accountabilities within the IS infrastructure environment. In general, each Engineer must possess strong skills in configuration, deployment, cGMP validation and support for their technical systems within a medium to large LAN/WAN environment. The candidate will need to have experience in scripting (batch and VBS) and maintaining a windows based server environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2003 and 2007 is a must and experience building/configuring/expanding VMware servers/farms is required. Understanding of SharePoint (MOSS 2007) environments and general network skills are highly desirable. This position will center around managing Microsoft Exchange and VMware environments. Expertise with Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and enterprise computing environments is required. Strong communication skills and customer service orientation are essential. The incumbent must also be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently. The candidate should be a quick learner, have a desire to learn new technologies, be able to think on their feet and adapt to any situation.
