The Big-Little Comedy Fest: (College) Hometown Glory

Wednesday – Sunday, September 14 - 18
Last year, a tiny festival debut in town and it didn't hit many peoples' radar, but this year it will be much harder to ignore The Big-Little Comedy Festival returning once again to the Dog Story Theater. One obvious reason it is going to be a huge hit is because of the public's renewed interest in comedy thanks to events like LaughFest and the area's comedy club, Dr. Grin's. But I think the real reason is truly because the Dog Story Theater has cultivated some of the best comedic programming in our region for more than three years. The festival is the brainchild of Calvin College graduate and current Chicago resident Tina Jackson. She enjoys Grand Rapids so much that she says she chose her "college hometown as the place to host this national-caliber improv event." Filling out the five-day festival will be 28 acts, translating into more than 100 performers who will take to the Dog Story stage to showcase the best of not only Grand Rapids, but of Chicago and other Midwest cities. In addition, the event will offer seven workshops where attendees hone their comedy chops under the tutelage of seasoned professionals. Dog Story Theater is a tiny local theater where big laughs and the freshest comic talent are born weekly in our community. It is a fitting place to catch this dynamic and impressive festival. Admission: $10/Individual Shows, $18/One Night Pass, $50/Festival Pass, $15/Workshops. Student discounts available.
