Jake's Music Festival: Cutting edge do-gooders

Saturday, April 16, 6:30 p.m. (doors)
One of the joys of Jake’s Music Festival isn't just the opportunity to see cutting edge musical acts on stage for free, but it's also a chance to do some good. Through the generous support of area sponsors and attendees of this 12th annual edition of the popular festival, the event is happy to report they have raised over $35,000 for our local chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

The secret, according to organizers of the event, that attracts award-winning acts is the careful planning of their team, including music director Clay Grueber’s keen eye for programming.

This year’s featured line up includes Jesse Ray & the Carolina Catfish, The Legal Immigrants, Brother Adams, and Megan Dooley. Other performers appearing on stage include Charlie Darling, Conway, Emma Loo, Fathom 19, JOE, Murder Party, Nick Arthur & the Habitat, Take3, and The Sailor Kicks.

If you are the kind of person who needs to know when approximately your act’s performance will begin, the complete updated schedule can be found at www.jakesmusicfestival.com.

Jake’s Music Festival is able to be a free performance thanks to the generous support of sponsors Perrin Brewing Company, The Gordon Group, and 36th Street Lounge.  Other opportunities to contribute is made possible via the event’s silent auction and a photo booth by Kreative Booth. There will even be free samples from Eastown’s Connie’s Cakes.

This year’s local personality hosts include WGVU’s Shelley Irwin and Local Spin’s John Sinkevics, as well as a possible surprise guest.

Admission: Free (but donations are encouraged).
