Thirty-foot sculpture to grace Rapid Central Station

City transit leaders selected a new piece of public art to spiff up Rapid Central Station – a 30-foot sculpture made from transparent plastic and aluminum.

The transit board hopes the new 30-foot sculpture to be featured outside The Rapid's Central Station bus depot will be all three.

The officials unanimously approved the public art project Wednesday.

"Art and music speak to our souls in ways that nothing else does," Mayor George Heartwell said. "This brings out beauty for people going through the hum-drum of daily life."
