With $1.9 million of help from MSHDA, developers plan to erect a 24-unit housing center for senior citizens. The plan has been scaled back from mixed-use retail/residential.

According to excerpts from the story:

The Spring Lake Village Planning Commission last week approved plans to turn a former industrial plating site into a 24-unit senior citizen residential development.

Voting 5-3, the commission approved plans calling for a three-story main structure with two-story wings on the former Superior Plating Co. property on Liberty Street between Cutler and Park streets. The approved plans call for 24 apartments.

Liberty Street Apartments is being co-developed by the Spring Lake-based Peel Brothers LLC, 501 Buena Vista, and Phil Seybert of Mt. Pleasant, who 12 years ago built the 131-unit Lloyds Bayou senior citizens residential development in Spring Lake Township.
