Nano brewery looking at mid-October opening in downtown Holland

Downtown Holland will soon have a new option for craft beer enthusiasts to quench their thirst for unique ales, lagers, stouts and pilsners.

With a team of six employees already, Our Brewing Company is scheduled to swing open its doors October 20. The brewery will be located near New Holland Brewery on 8th St. and will feature a creative assortment of small batch beers.

According to co-founders Trevor Doublestein, the small brewery will have a focus on uniqueness with an element of surprise. "For our first beer, we will be sending out a big press release, so I can't tell you now what it will be. We are shooting for four beers when we open and all will be very different than your typical beer. They will have a unique twist. After our opening, we will work our way up to 10 taps."

Doublestein says his brewery should fit in nicely with the food scene in downtown Holland where patrons will be encouraged to bring in their own food from neighboring restaurants.

Besides unique beers, Doublestein and his co-founder Dane Sexton also have a couple of interesting ideas for a new customer experience. "We want it to be a peoples' brewery. We are planning to have a monthly drawing for a suggested brew. If their name gets drawn, that  beer will be brewed and that person will also have naming rights."

Doublestein admits to being nervous as he tries to hit the October opening date. "People in the city are very excited. It has been hard to get things done because so many people are stopping by and checking us out, but we are also really, really excited".
