Grand Haven's new Landing ready for next phase of $100M development

Grand Landing, a $100 million lifestyle resort in Grand Haven, is ready to begin phase two of development, which will add waterfront retail and residential condominiums, a 2,000-foot boardwalk, and a 300-seat waterfront amphitheater/skating rink.

Plans include four restaurant pads with footprints from 4,400 square feet to 5,000 square feet front on the south channel of the Grand River; two of those are approved for 9,000-square-foot buildings with two levels.

Four other proposed buildings, also on the waterfront, provide a total of 18,000 square feet of retail space on the main floors, with six residential condos on the second and third floors.

The condominium floor plans include single-floor flats and flats with an optional loft in the attic dormer. They run from 1,200 square feet to 2,200 square feet, and have two-car attached garages under the boardwalk, secure access, elevators from the garage level to the living levels, and balconies that overlook the river. Prices range from the high $300s to over $500,000.

"Construction on the boardwalk will begin in the next 30 days and is being publicly funded by the City of Grand Haven to return use of the waterfront to the public," says Craig Adams, developer of the resort with Don Knape.

Adams has 21 pre-sale reservations for the 24 condominiums, and plans to have purchase agreements in place by summer's end. Groundbreaking will take place about 60 days later. Phase one is nearly complete and will open October 1.

Brian Winkelmann of DTS+Winkelmann and J. Arthur Miller created the architectural design. Rockford Construction is the construction manager.
