Detroit-based law firm renovates, expands offices in GR's CenterCity

After ten months of operating out of temporary downtown offices, Clark Hill PLC has moved into a newly renovated 15,000-square-foot space in the Chase building at 200 Ottawa NW.

"Because the firm has plans to be a regional firm we wanted to have a foothold here in the west side of the state," said Ingrid Jensen, managing member of the Grand Rapids office.

The entire fifth floor was gutted and rebuilt with efficiency in mind. While clients will immediately see the physical renovations that include 24 perimeter offices with windows, and several private meeting rooms, several technological upgrades will not be as obvious.

Voice Over Internet Protocol, a company-owned and developed online research library, access to extensive litigation information through the legal search engine LexisNexis, and the ability to enable clients to access their own legal documents online have brought a high-tech aspect to the firm's capabilities, Jensen said.

When Clark Hill opened their temporary location in the Frey Building last year, nine attorneys were onboard. That number has jumped to sixteen, and the firm has plans to add eight more by mid-2008.

"West Michigan is becoming a center of growth in the state," Jensen said, "and let's face it, it's a beautiful place to live and work."

A client open house is planned for later this month.
