$8.5M Grand Haven Cottages development completed

The decorative picket fencing and walking paths of Grand Haven Cottages are meant to evoke a "cottagey" feeling. But don't confuse that with being old fashioned.

This contemporary $8.5 million village-style development between Grand Haven's Harbor Drive and Lafayette Street features five single-family cottages, four duplexes, and a clubhouse building with six condos and four guest cabanas.

"You can see the Grand River from all the units," said Fryling Construction Project Manager Brian Steinberg. "From the upper units in the clubhouse you can see the lighthouse at the end of the boardwalk and Lake Michigan."

The two-level, 1,200-square-foot single-family cottages line Harbor Drive. Behind them are the duplexes, which feature two-story units of 1,200 square feet above garden-level walkout units of 1,000 square feet. The condos and cabanas share the clubhouse; the cabanas open out to a 12-foot by 24-foot community pool and deck area.

"They all have custom interiors," said owner and developer Suzanne Rudnitzki of Onemarket Development. "Some have wood floors and some have fieldstone fireplaces. There are marble countertops and granite countertops."

Two cottages and four condominiums are still available. Prices range from $435,000 to $650,000.

Fryling Construction brought the development to white box stage. Rudnitzki's construction company, Adler Construction, is doing the finish work. Robert Sears designed the exteriors, and Diekema Hamann designed the structures.
