Photo of the Week, May 14

This photograph is part of a continuing project exploring people and housing in relation to the environment, from the air. Photograph by Adam Bird, helicopter by Easy Rotor.

As a photographer who spends a fair bit of time in a helicopter, the view is privileged. Most people don't get to see what our world looks like from above, and it is a very different place. For the last several years I've been photographing houses and housing, hopefully to show larger interactions between where and how we live and the environment. As confusing and homogenous many subdivisions can be, they are quite extraordinary from the air. Graceful curves and repeating shapes.

Stay tuned for more of these images to come. And if you want to see something specific, or have any feedback, please pop me an email
