G-Sync Events for the weeks of 08/07 – 8/13/2009
By Tommy Allen
How can I begin to explain the love hangover a lot of people in West Michigan experienced this past Monday morning as they tried to resume work mode after a fantastic weekend in the city?
It almost defies description how the metro area hosted advocacy for better urban biking, dancing in the monsoon downpour to a new beat or the heartfelt outreach by more than 30 of the area’s most important musical acts with the community to help a fellow artist in need.
Metro Grand Rapids may be growing in major ways with brick and mortar, but we're also taking our emerging community spirit to new heights.
West Michigan, you did all of us proud this weekend!
We have much more yet to experience as we gallop to the finish line of summer, and this week offers a fine set of choices that will only set you back a few bucks. Try doing this much in New York City for so little.
One last item concerning the changing face of our community. Big congrats to UICA for securing a major $2.5 million gift from the DeVos family this week for their capital campaign and to the Civic Theatre that announced their exciting Limelight fall event that will change the way you view their space. Both of these arts items directly play off the excitement ArtPrize is generating with our community.
Choose local.…and often.
