World class tortilla manufacturer calls Grand Rapids home

After a move from Cedar Springs, Festida Foods, a leader in the manufacturing of private label tortilla chips, has settled in its new home in the Union Station industrial park and is doing exceptionally well. "We have increased our workforce over 30 percent in the last 18 months and project to grow another 20 percent in the next 18 months," says Kyle Curtiss, CEO.

According to Curtiss, the move to bigger facility and the purchase of new equipment has dramatically increased their capacity, which is directly attributed to their growth and reputation as a leader in their field.

"Our focus is on the private label. We are an expert in chip making and a manufacturer first, not a sales organization. We have become the gold standard of tortilla chips," says Curtiss, adding that the move from the older facility in Cedar Springs has allowed them to purchase and set up equipment, making them the most "sophisticated chip maker in the world."

Parallel to the manufacturing competency, Curtiss says their faith-based culture plays an important role in the firm's success. "We are very, very, very careful when we make hires. It is a family atmosphere. Our mission statement is based on growing others and growing business profitably."
