Corlnet moves to MAREC, looks to add jobs in 2013

Corlnet LLC, a software development firm based in Muskegon with an office in Grand Rapids, has signed a two-year lease with Grand Valley State University (GVSU) to occupy business incubator space at MAREC, an economic development initiative of the city of Muskegon in partnership with GVSU and the Michigan Economic Development Corp (MEDC).

Corlnet recently added a new account manager and currently has six full-time employees. According to founder Hank Betten, Corlnet anticipates several new hires in 2013, including experienced .net developers, account managers, and customer service managers.

Betten says the move to MAREC and the association with GVSU helps position the firm for growth in 2013. "One of the biggest advantages is the access to a talent pool. Skilled workers are in demand, especially on the software side."

With the GVSU connection, Betten says that the Corlnet culture is very much aligned with a younger talent base. "We are do not have a corporate culture. It feels more like a house, not a job. We are a young company, we operate like a young company. We focus on the family. If you come to work on the birthday of your [spouse's], kids', or your own birthday, you are fired."
