Camp Tall Turf seeks to invest in the Grand Rapids community, not just through its summer youth camp, but through personally investing in the lives of youth through its LIT (Leader In Training) program. During the summer and school-year, middle and high school age youth apply to be a part of this highly competitive program. The selected young leaders go through diversity training, developing personal mission statements, and learning skills in the areas of leadership, team building, fund raising, goal setting, conflict resolution, time management, communication, and more. They participate on service projects, go on college tours, and learn what its like to serve in the higher roles of businesses and other organizations. Additionally, they enact the power of peer leadership during Tall Turf's high school camp sessions and through using their skills to serve younger kids and teens. All this is done in a Christian environment where participants are also challenged to grow in their Christian faith. The Service & Leadership Training Coordinator serves as the guide for training sessions while supervising and organizing the activities of this program. This coordinator also works within the Tall Turf organization with other youth programs in general, the promotion/marketing of youth programs, summer staff recruitment and training, and other administrative tasks.
