Description:AHPN has an exciting opportunity for a Lean Process Improvement Intern for fall 09 (August 2009-December 2009). As an Advantage Health Physician Network Strategic Initiative Intern, you will have a unique opportunity to learn how senior leadership plays a vital role in maximizing the success of the organization. Our leadership professionals work within the organization to meet Advantage Health Physician Network strategic goals. The Lean Process Improvement Intern will assist in actionable implementation of organizational initiatives. Benefits of Being an AHPN Intern: Be assigned a mentor. Qualified students will perform the following tasks that could include, but are not limited to: Assist and educate stakeholders understanding Lean philosophy, application, methodology and tools to improve and design key initiatives. Participate in varies initiatives to support to create a Lean cultural and performance excellence. Assist in developing strategies, which support the goals and objectives of organization. Takes initiative to follow through on inquiries problem or requests. Work with the Lean team to uncover and assess process improvement opportunities, establishing links between organization strategy needs and improvement initiatives. Participate in and lead efforts to implement ongoing process management. Mechanisms (e.g. process mapping, documentation, metrics, monitoring systems and process control techniques. Monitor and measure the realization of the benefits from improvement activities. Attend and assist workshops. Performs other duties as assigned such as peer evaluation process.
Requirements: Must be currently a Junior/Senior level undergraduate with a 3.0 or above G.P.A.; Enrolled in an accredited bachelor degree program, Business, Engineering, Health Administration, and Mathematics, Statistics or related degree; Be available to work at least 3 days per week, working a minimum of 4-5 hours per day. The Intern may be asked to committee to some early mornings or late afternoons. Skills and Experience: Work experience in an office environment. Strong ability to multi-task, handle details and to maintain organization. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with a strong customer-service orientation Ability to handle employee and organizational information in a confidential manner. Highly professional in all interactions; punctual, tactful, and positive; Ability to use other software as required for performing the essential functions of the job, such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, email, web research. Articulate, courteous, tactful and presents a neat appearance.
