Bid for bachelor and bachelorettes to help those with cystic fibrosis

In the United States, approximately 30,000 individuals have Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Most are diagnosed by six months of age. It’s a recessive gene disease that attacks several organs in the body, but is most widely known for its ravage on the lungs. There is no cure to this life-limiting illness.

Thankfully, there is ongoing research, as well as Friends and Families of Cystic Fibrosis. This nonprofit organization is raising awareness and funds to help children and young adult patients and their families. In their words, they are “trying to give them a small piece of joy that the disease has taken away from them.”

“While the CF Foundation works on research towards a cure, Friends and Families of Cystic Fibrosis is working to help the families and individuals affected by CF,” explains Barry Peters, a volunteer for the charity.

They do so by purchasing medical supplies and equipment that are not covered by insurance or other resources, contribute to lung transplant procedures and even provide care packages for children and young adults when hospitalized, just to name a few services they offer.

To raise funds, the local organization holds several events. One of which is swiftly approaching Feb. 4 at the J.W. Marriott. Bid for Bachelor and Bachelorettes is in its fifteenth year, and you can be a do-gooder by supporting this worthy cause.
