East Hills Council of Neighbors loves Congress Elementary School

Over the last few years, the East Hills neighborhood has been the beneficiary of activity, innovation and entrepreneurism, developing the area into a hot spot for businesses and families alike.

In an effort to continue the growth and align itself with Mayor Heartwell’s recent State of the City address, the East Hills Council of Neighbors continues to cultivate its collaboration with a local school.

“Our goal for 2012 and beyond is to continue building a strong partnership with Congress Elementary School,” says community organizer Claire Fisher.

“Mark Rumsey and I have been compiling an East Hills resident skill-set survey over the past month. This will allow us to build communication between the volunteer needs of Congress Elementary School and how our neighbors can be of service to that,” she continues. “We've already gotten eight new volunteers who have offered a number of skills and services like tutoring, landscaping the park and office help.”

The Council has also arranged a Meet-n-Greet event for neighbors to get to know the staff and the public school better. It will include tours, refreshments and lively conversation to strengthen the already budding collaboration.
