West Michigan Applebee's receiving makeovers and adding jobs

Livonia-based Team Schostak Family Restaurants recently purchased 60 Applebee's, 30 of which are located in West Michigan.

With the acquisition, Team Schostak is beginning a series of renovations to all the stores to be completed over a two-year period. These renovations will not only add a "wow factor" for customers, but also create jobs.

Barb Pasciak, marketing manager, says each restaurant should be adding 10-16 additional staff after renovation. Once the two-year process is finished, an anticipated total of 300-450 new jobs will have been added throughout the state.

Pasciak says customers will certainly notice the difference. "When you walk in after the updates, there will be a big wow factor. There will be hi-def TVs surrounding the bar, cigar-bar type seating, and new granite countertops. There will be no memorabilia on the walls, but instead, we have added a hometown wall."

Pasciak says there will also be exterior updates and the restaurants will feature Michigan beers on tap including Bell's, Brewery Vivant, Perrin, Founders, and Short's.

The first West Michigan renovation was completed in early June at 4488 Potomac Ave. SW, Grandville. Other West Michigan locations are scheduled for updates, which typically take 2-4 days, later this summer.
