The votes are in, and Grand Rapids is one step closer to having its signature sandwich. Organizers of the Grandwich competition today named the top 10 entries in a contest challenging Grand Rapids restaurants to produce a new sandwich recipe worthy of becoming the city's culinary claim to fame (think Philly cheese steak). Public voting determined which entries advanced to a final round of judging.
On Saturday, a panel of judges will announce which of these sandwiches best meets the contest criteria – use of local ingredients, uniqueness, taste, appearance, representation of Grand Rapids.
