City of Wyoming could offer more tax incentives as part of Next Michigan Development Corp


The Grand Rapids Press reports that a new state initiative for economic development could bring more tax incentives to local governments to encourage investment and the city of Wyoming is at the top of the favorites list.

According to excerpts from the story:

As city officials work with developers to find a user for the former General Motors plant property on 36th Street SW, they might have an ally in a new state law that brings more tax incentives to the table. Wyoming is among several communities in Kent and Muskegon counties being solicited to form a "Next Michigan Development Corp." The partnership would create a regional board of directors to pursue a broader offering of tax incentives for eligible properties, like the vacant GM plant, with at least 35 acres and access to two modes of transportation: road and rail, for example.
