West Michigan's growth in housing starts, construction jobs could continue in 2012

The Grand Rapids Press reports that slow and steady growth in the housing market could mean that construction companies could experience some homebuilding recovery in 2012, along with the creation of direct and indirect jobs.

According to excerpts from the story:

Every home built in West Michigan creates three spinoff jobs, according to the findings of a study commissioned by the National Association Home Builders.

That means the 637 homes built in Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon counties created 1,927 jobs, or an estimated $111.2 million in local income and $11.5 million in taxes, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Grand Rapids (HBAGGR).
