Minority Business Expo: Creating a Welcoming Space

Thursday, August 16, 5-7 p.m.
A lot of work goes into making West Michigan a more welcoming place. And while some folks are still struggling to effectively make that connection, our local Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce’s advancement in this area is definitely growing in exciting ways.

One area where they are experiencing growth is their third annual Minority Business Expo, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Here, minority-owned businesses representing the landscaping, finance, floral, language, technology, art, restaurant, hotels & hospitality, health insurance and education industries will be on hand to discuss exciting ways their  services can be welcomed to interested companies.

In the past, they have brought in more than 200 attendees, but are looking for this number to grow as the Chamber continues to connect with this community.

The relaxed environment of this annual expo is a perfect opportunity not only for the Chamber to highlight the talent of our region, but also to facilitate networking opportunities within this diverse community.

“Minority entrepreneurs and their businesses are an important part of a vibrant economy in Grand Rapids, and it is crucial that we foster and support the growth of these entrepreneurs,” says Chamber President & CEO Rick Baker. “This event offers companies a way to expand their vendor list and a chance for newcomers to connect with local businesses.”

There will be free hors’duerves from Bar Divani and a cash bar.
