Rooftop Couture: Explore The New

Saturday, August 11, 7 p.m.
Grand Rapids has no shortage of events to consider attending these days. One that is starting at the top (literally) is the debut of an appropriately series, Rooftop Couture, held on the seventh and top floor of the Ellis Parking garage structure in the heart of the city.

When this locally-focused, fashion runway show debuts, it will be a departure, as well as a much welcome relief on the scene. After all, we are all a bit burned out on the same venues who have hosted fashion shows over the years, and Rooftop Couture allows West Michigan to re-imagine a downtown work space as a new event venue.

And while this event is promoted as a benefit show for Fashion Has Heart -- a local group that uses creativity to help former military service men and women -- the spotlight is shining brightest on our local fashion superstars. Designers who will parade their dazling creations at this sky-is-the-limit event include the likes of EINS Wear, The Mitten State, b. Vain Couture II, Bread Breakers, Conscious Clothing, All City Kicks and Sydney’s Boutique.

The night will be full of surprises, but most of all, it is a great time to see what is happening within our local fashion scene. And, if so moved, you can buy something original, created right where you live.

Ticket sales have been brisk, so you will not want to wait to get yours as admission is limited to just about 500 attendees, according to event organizers Renee Jonkman and Crystal Hilliard of To The Top Entertainment.

Admission: Starting at $25
