Color Run GR: Dusty Road To Victory

Sunday, August 5, 8 AM
The city is has a plethora of runs and charity walks, but the one event that all runners and sports fans have been talking about all season is the debut of the nationally popular Color Run, which comes to Grand Rapids on Sunday, August 5.

Billed by the organizers of the event as an event less about the need for speed, but one devoted to enjoyment and unexpected visual pleasures, the color run is "surprisingly high in calories and leaves a chalky aftertaste" for those who will be dusted at each 1k mark during the 5k run.

The rules are pretty simple for those looking to participate. You will need to wear a white T-shirt and be prepared to be dusted with color along the path before you charge across the finish line in a Jackson Pollock-inspired finish where you and your fellow runners become doused in vibrant colors.

Another exciting way to enjoy the day if you are not running is to gather at Calder Plaza where the race begins and ends. And the race ending is something to see as waves of racers cross the line in a truly colorful extravaganza.

Admission: $55/50. (Individual/teams 4 or more)
