Dia del Nino 2016: It's a delicious and award-winning familia affair

Tuesday, April 26, 5 - 7 p.m.
Last week Rapid Growth attended the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce annual awards gala and was so excited over one winner that the howling from Tommy was clear that he approved of the choice for Hispanic Businessperson off the Year.

Receiving the award this year was Gricelda Mata for her work with Lindo Mexico Restaurant. Not only had Mata navigated a huge move to a brand new space with plenty of upgrades just down the street and west of their old venue, but she has continued to deliver on her promise to deliver fresh, familia-recipes from her kitchen to your table. Each bite is a delicious experience and had me thinking of the popular Spanish language film, “Like Water for Chocolate.”

On Tuesday, April 26, Mata invites you to join her staff as they celebrate Dia del Niño with a night of interactive games, prizes, bikes, candy, scooters, and balloons. Look for the giant big red firetruck out front, too.

As an added incentive to come out and taste the goodness of a home cooked meal, with each adult entree purchased, your child receives a free kid’s meal.

So, while Bon Appétit Magazine overlooked this delicious eatery (and nearly every other minority-owned business) in a recent article on Grand Rapids, you should not miss Lindo Mexico. One visit with Mata, and you will see why she is clearly the Hispanic Businessperson off the Year.

Admission: Free child’s meal with every adult entree purchased.
