Grand Rapids Bar Brawl: Featherweight Champs Take It Outside

Sunday, July 29, 2 - 6 PM
When a bouncer yells at you to take it outside, you have two choices. One is to shape up. The other is really to take it outside.

But for two bars, Mulligan’s and Stella’s, not only have they been shaping up for the fight, but they are taking it to the streets of downtown Grand Rapids for the very first Grand Rapids Bar Brawl at Rosa Parks Circle.

If you have never attended a boxing match, I am sure you will have a hard time keeping your beer down as fighters from the two drinking establishments don giant inflatable boxing gloves to battle under the summer sun. It is really quite comical to see your favorite bar staff member take punch after to punch as they raise funds for the Downs Syndrome Association of West Michigan.

One fun and memorable way to get involved, outside of purchasing a raffle ticket for any one of the many prizes or making a donation, is to have Blacha Studios take your photo with one of the many fighters, ring girls or other special guests who will be on hand to help you commemorate your involvement.

And while the irony of hosting a fighting event in Rosa Parks Circle seems counterproductive to the goals of the non-violence movement, this event hopes to kick up some major funding in support for our local Downs Syndrome Association of West Michigan.

At the sound of the bell, come out giving!
