Then Their Eyes Were Opened: Red Carpet Premiere

Sunday, Jan. 12, 3:30 p.m. doors, 4:00 p.m. showtime
Our state’s filmmaking scene may have taken a huge hit after the bait-and-switch politics in Lansing led to the cutting of our film incentive program, but local filmmakers still continue to do what they do even if the big budget films have exited our region.

And while Rapid Growth was off for the debut of the hip hop film The Fly last weekend at St. Cecilia’s Music Center, we promise not to let you miss the premiere of the next new film, Then Their Eyes Were Opened, from another local company, Exit Media Productions.

Production for Then Their Eyes Were Opened began in the fall of 2011 after Exit was able to secure four thousand dollars to cover the shooting. The film was shot in Grand Rapids and is a modern adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorne's Young Goodman Brown.

This first feature length film from Exit follows the character of Ethan Young on a journey that will not only shake the very foundation upon which his life has been built but will also open his eyes as he is faced with challenges confronting what he believes and why.

This film features actors Matthew Dennis, Kelsey Ohle and Errol Shewman, plus a familiar face from our Rapid Growth editorial staff, our Do Good editor Victoria Mullen, who is always a joy to see act on the big screen.

There will be a red carpet entry so dress to impress as the flashbulbs will be poppin’ on Sunday. To view the trailer for Then Their Eyes Were Opened visit the Exit Vimeo site.
