Halloween Swing: Popular community dance party celebrates at newly renovated venue

Tuesday, Oct. 29, 7 p.m.
The LitGR, 61 Sheldon Blvd. SE
As the warmish fall weather exits, ushering in a new phase of unpredictability with increased threats of rain and (gasp) snow flurries, many popular, year-round Grand Rapids events begin to move inside.

And fans of the Grand Rapids Original Swing Society (GROSS) —  an ongoing year-round public dance series — will be in luck this Halloween as our area’s most community-engaging dance party will be one of the very first events to inhabit the newly renovated The LitGR (the site of the former Ladies Literary Club).

Realizing that not everyone has a background in dance styles like swing, GROSS offers beginners at the start of their program an instructor-led educational opportunity to learn a few new steps that can be integrated and perfected over the new couple hours of dancing. They even offer an advanced lesson period starting at 8 p.m.

For an admission price of $8, Halloween Swing is a festive departure for this popular series. Fans of GROSS’ ongoing swing dance parties, which were founded in 2010, will have a chance to swing the night away while showing off their best Halloween-inspired costume.

So whether you are a long-time swing dancer or just curious to see the newly renovated event space, The LitGR, then the 2019 Swing Halloween, one of the most unique experiences this year, must be a part of your fall festivities.

Advance tickets may be purchased here.
